The long road home
The steady pulse of a metronome
The longing to bring you home
The journey is rough and the road is long
Keep on trekking, you're so strong
Weeks, days, hours, seconds
With each tick the future beckons
Please stay in until you're ready
Keep on walking, slow and steady
We can't wait to see you smile
To hear your cries and wipe your tears
There's no rush to share these moments
Keep on marching, have no fear
As you grow, so too our love for you
And what a treat to hear your beats
To see you moving and contorting
To count the toes on both your feet
The world is grand and o' the splendors
To taste the sweetness of your cake
And smell the roses in the garden
To feel the warmth of mom's embrace
The trip is long, you must be weary
Hold our hands you're not alone
And when your steps are light and airy
That's when you'll be in our arms
